KT Hang Tuah VIII Tug Boat at Kuala Tanjung Port

MEDAN (wartalogistik.com) - To improve marine services, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Persero) or Pelindo 1 brought in a unit of the KT Hang Tuah VIII tug boat at the Kuala Tanjung port branch on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.

KT Hang Tuah VIII made by PT Citra Shipyard Batam has a length (LoA) of 30 meters and is equipped with two main engine units and a Steerable Rudder Propeller (SRP) and equipment with each main engine having a power of 1800 HP at 750-1000 RPM.

For information, the tugboats brought in at the Kuala Tanjung port branch are equipped with new Integrated Bridge System (IBS) technology and Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) that can control equipment in one console. The technology can also monitor the condition of the ship as a whole, especially for the main and supporting engines, propulsion system, can save operational costs to be more efficient, and can monitor fuel usage accurately and directly

"Pelindo 1 will bring KT Hang Tuah VIII to be operational to support the service of delaying ships entering Kuala Tanjung port. This is a form of Pelindo 1's commitment to continue to improve services to service users and to make logistical operations at ports managed by Pelindo 1 to be more efficient and safe," explained Pelindo 1 Public Relations VP, Fiona Sari Utami.

With the arrival of one new tug boat, Pelindo 1 currently has 22 tugs operating in various port branches in its four provinces, namely: Belawan, Kuala Tanjung, Dumai, Batam, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Malahayati, and Lhokseumawe.
