NTT Police Chief Ensures New Patrol Boat Helps Secure ASEAN Summit

Kupang (ANTARA) - East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police Chief Inspector General Pol Johanis Asadoma said that one of the two newly inaugurated patrol boats will be assisted for security during the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai in May 2023

"For the ASEAN Summit we will also shift this new ship can be assisted to maintain water security during the meeting of the heads of state," he said in Kupang, Friday (31/3/2023).

This was conveyed in response to the arrival of two type C1 patrol boats which had just been inaugurated and were tested sailing in Kupang waters for approximately one hour.

He said that in the implementation of the 2023 ASEAN Summit, the position of the National Police was only as BKO, because in terms of securing heads of state, it fell under the authority of the TNI and Paspampres.

"We hope that this new ship can also help with security in Labuan Bajo," he added.

He also said that the existence of the two new patrol boats could certainly help protect the waters of NTT, although basically they were not fully capable of securing all of the vast waters of NTT.

"If you say it's enough or not, it's not enough, but with the existing ships it can certainly help secure waters in NTT," he said.

Director of Polairud Polda NTT Kombes Pol Nyoman Budiarja said of the two ships obtained, one would later be placed in Labuan Bajo to secure the area permanently.

Meanwhile, one more ship will be stationed on Rote Ndao Island, which borders Australia, while guarding the waters to avoid various cases of fishing bombing and other criminal acts.
